When Pantone announced that 2013's "color of the year" would be emerald, designers world-wide oohed and aahed in harmony. The rich, delicious hue continues last year's attraction to deep jewel tones--such as emerald, sapphire, and amethyst. This intoxicating shade of green is named 17-5641 Emerald, and has been described as "lively, radiant, (and) lush..." by Pantone personnel. We couldn't agree more.
As a gemstone, Emerald is said to be a preserver of love and a symbol of hope. It is also thought of as a token of good luck, fertility, and wisdom in many cultures, especially in the spring. While we cannot attest to any supernatural effects from the color, it is quite mesmerizing and does convey a certain element of peace (think rolling green hills, fresh-cut grass, four-leaf clovers, Italian grottos). |
