An Unusual Ring-Bearer

They are there for us in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, until death parts us. A beloved member of the family and source of comfort, dogs have become popular ring bearers among animal-loving couples as an alternative to the common pillow-toting toddler bouncing down the isle. Loyal and true, a trained dog can further the "aaah" factor of a ceremony and also prove to be a welcomed diversion for anxiety-prone brides.

When choosing the perfect floral decor for your dog, be conscious of comfort, color, and toxins. A number of lilies and other beautiful flowers are dangerous to dogs and can be potentially fatal.

Once a ceremony site has approved Fido's presence on the big day, make a copy of updated vaccine records in case they are required. Also, locate an area on the grounds where a crate can be set up with food and water. If running water is not available at the site, be sure to freeze a bowl of water the night before and pack it inside of the crate for wedding day drinking. Assign a close friend or family member to be in charge of dog and crate transportation to and from the ceremony in order to ensure stress-free puppy participation.
